My Achievements

Talent
ID
Being able to identify talent and nurture in the right way is crucial
I see so many talented football players along my teaching and coaching journey so it is important to make sure things are done the right way, to protect the young players and make sure they are put on the right and safest pathway.

FA Play Phase
Fantastic younger years course delivered by The FA.
To continually improve my skillset in the younger years I took the Play Phase course from The FA. This is aimed at young children aged 3 - 8 just starting out on their football journey. A fantastic course filled will so many great and fun ideas that will generate a spark in all students.

FOBISIA
AGM
An inspirational week in Manila hosting the FOBISIA PE & Sport AGM and Conference
As part of my role on the Executive Committee I have the pleasure of updating the membership about the exciting progress of the previous year's FOBISIA Games, and also the new developments that have been brought forward to make the Games even better! The following conference days are packed with inspirational speakers from around the world.

FOBISIA
Games
From the training ground to the competition, a real highlight for so many.
Training for the U13 FOBISIA Games started early in the year and proved worthwhile as the smiles on the faces of these young athletes throughout the competition in Thailand was infectious. For many this was their first competitive experience following COVID, or their first ever!

Trophy
Tour
A once in a lifetime opportunity to see the trophies won by MCFC in Jakarta.
The link with Manchester City Football Club has given so many opportunities to our school community, and this was a special privilege, to stand between the 4 trophies won by MCFC in the 2022/23 season. Truly inspirational.
Fun
Run
The annual BIST community charity Fun Run raising money for local charities
A professionally set up race with three separate distances for the whole school to get involved. Many working parts required managing such as the students, marshals, sponsors, parents and the professional race company who managed the timing. This was a large scale event with over 1200 people in attendance

Book
article
An article on Student Leadership in action through PE published in the book 'Happiness Factories'
Using a newly implemented concept at senior level, I discuss the benefits of giving students more ownership over their learning while creating a climate where they can challenge their own weaknesses and seek to improve personality traits that will benefit them throughout life.
Swimming
Passport
The introduction of levels and a passport in swimming to engage and challenge all
With a strong focus on swimming in the school I wanted to give students more ownership over their progression and challenge level. By introducing a swimming passport students could visually see the progress they were making as well as see the next steps in their journey.
Article
Published
My article on assessment in PE, published in the International Teacher Magazine (April 2022)
A thoroughly enjoyable time spent researching and writing this article to share with teaching colleagues around the world. I have been humbled by the positive feedback from professional peers and leaders.
Secondary
Rep
Part of a small team managing one of the biggest International School organisations
My role on the PE & Sport Executive Committee sees me able to offer help and support to all member schools of FOBISIA. As the Secondary Representative I am tasked with offering advice for all secondary matters including the support of the Secondary FOBISIA Games each year.
Early Years Sports
An amazing event where all students celebrated sport and being active!
This event showcased all of the great skills and determination that the Early Years students had been working on this year. It was inspiring to see the students have so much fun and get into the team spirit of the day. I also had a great time dressed up as the Bromsgrove Bear!
Assessment
Introducing a new sport specific assessment model
A new assessment model introduced combining sport and stage specific success criteria visuals boldly displayed in high traffic areas with a new assessment system enabling PE teachers to record assessments quickly and easily on an iPad, phone or computer.
Return to School
Managing the transition from Online to On Campus
A careful plan was put in place to ensure that students were not overwhelmed when returning to school from a prolonged period of online learning. PE was the perfect vehicle for reconfirming friendships and communication between students and staff.
Concept Based
Developing the whole child through PE
Recent research argues that PE is so much more than kicking a football and catching a ball. With simple concept based learning we are targeting all children and providing them with life skills - with a sporting background!
Online Learning
Virtual Olympics and Remote PE
The pandemic has presented new challenges that I have grasped with both hands to show how I can adapt and thrive in any situation. Parents and staff have commented on how engaging and fun remote learning in PE has been.
Sports
Events
Sports Day's and Swim Gala's
Large sporting events have always been a secret passion of mine. I enjoy pursuing the elite aspect of sport as well as providing a truly inclusive event for all to participate in.
Coffee
Mornings
Educating the whole school community
I believe it's important to work with the whole school community, and the parents are always so receptive about what is being done in PE. It's also about educating the parents and giving them tools to help their children succeed in sport and life.
PE Ethos
Creating a constructive climate
I believe PE is central to the success of a school and the students. By creating an environment of trust, challenge and enjoyment students have pride in what they are doing and want to achieve more.

Student Centered
Feedback from students is powerful
This particular student was a leading role within the student body and I worked closely with him in a number of areas to prepare him for university and enjoy/excel in sport.
Military Service
Enabling cadets to experience it all
My 13 years as an officer in the RAF has equipped me with many invaluable skills, but more importantly, it has enabled countess cadets to have experiences that challenge them like no other and give them skills that will mould them into great, resilient and problem solving individuals.
Elite Athletes
Coaching world class athletes on track
As master in charge of athletics, I have been fortunate enough to help mentor and coach some elite athletes who have gone on to compete in high level competitions such as the Commonwealth Games, the Island Games and one even competing in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, and likely to feature in Paris 2024.
Ski
Leader
Learning new skills on the snow
As a Ski Leader for over 8 years and a ski trip organiser to over 10 resorts across Europe and America, I have been fortunate to watch children grow in a sport I love. They have been pushed out of their comfort zone and many had battles to learn a notoriously difficult sport, but the smiles on faces mean everything!
Expedition
Leader
Letting the students be the guide
From Morocco to Malaysia, I have been an organiser and leader of adventure expeditions where the students take the lead. They are given the money for the trip, a mobile phone and a guide book. The students learn so many valuable skills about travelling, leadership and looking after each other. They all made some pretty impressive achievements along the way!
Volunteer
Helping those more unfortunate
A link was established with St. Andrews School Turi in Kenya to help African children in a local children's project. Our students helped to improve their facilities, teach some lessons, explore the amazing country and experience the fascinating culture.
This is possibly one of the most humbling experiences that my students have participated in.
Party Business
Nerf and LaserTag party business
A conversation with my wife one evening about a party business grew over 6 years into a highly profitable and well known children's party and corporate team building reality. My wife and I (and our two children!) made Nerfit into one of the primary party providers on Guernsey.
